Fiery Blue

When I look at this small glass box I am transported back to 1972 and a flat-mate of that time who gave me this as a present. You know how some people are amzing at choosing gifts? Jen was one of those people. I keep it on a windowsill where the light catches it. I love the way it reminds me of frozen heat.

Fiery? It seems to be the exact blue of bluebottle jellyfish. Associations …

I love it.

Pen - Fiery I guess cos of the heat that formed the glass and the sense of how the cooled glass still contains an image of the heat that went into making it - even though blue is by nature a cool colour .... something like that - it's an oxymoron, fiery blue; that's why I like it.

DOna - I do too, it's one of the favourite things I own.
