Welcome to the world, Ayana!

Thanks everyone - she is indeed a wonder and yes we are sad we aren't closer, she does seem so very far away. We must be patient as we will get to hold her in 6 months time. Meanwhile, lots of photos and regular skypes (computer camera dialogues) will have to suffice.
Note: A grandson is expected in three weeks here in Dunedin; he will be getting double the fuss to make up!

And what a lovely name..

Belated congratulations on such an adorable grandchild- I have been hibernating with a cold this week.
I'm sure six months seems a long way away - do you have Skype? That' s how my boss and his wife keep in touch with their granddaughter in South Africa. Does your son plan on returning to NZ or is he more or less permanently settled in Japan?

Just come over here to look at your new workspace, but find something more beautiful instead! Congratulations to all of you. What an exquisite little child. It's the mouth that always gets me - that shape...quite wonderful.

everytime i check into to your blog and see this sweet baby, i stop complaining for the rest of the day (ok, so i'm exaggerating about not complaining all day, but i felt the circumstance of that beautiful little girl warrants it)

:)

She is beautiful - and I agree Clare, it's the mouth .. kj I am so glad Aya cheers your day - your grandson's photo on your sidebar achieves similar results for me! Catherine we do have Skype and I am so thankful as we are putting it to good use. Thanks Jan we intend to enjoy her every moment and Twitches - yes indeed - awww.
