Mother's Day

Flowers received from S&E in Japan.

I have had a pleasant day at M&K's. They cooked us a pork roast meal with pineapple and roast vegetables. Mmmm ... just the thing on a cold, dank day like today. I received flowers too from my daughter R. Just waiting now for a phone call from C in Haast. Meanwhile ... soup and toast and a blazing fire.

Lovely flowers to celebrate Mother's Day. I'm glad you had a good day. Interesting that NZ has Mother's Day on the same day as we (US) do. My family in England celebrates earlier in the year.

Soup and toast and a blazing fire? Sounds heavenly. We had almost no winter and summer has come so quickly. The sun is blazing here - 90 degrees F on our patio.

It's also Mother's Day on the same day in Switzerland, where I have been staying. It seems funny that you are having cold days whilst we are having a hot spell.

Thanks for all your encouragement during April.

Sounds a brilliant day. Still feels odd knowing you are slipping towards winter as we head for the summer solstice.

Mmm toast, now I'm feeling peckish

You have to be in a certain group to enjoy the pleasures of toast, I think. I am in the group too and smile as I think of your Mother's Day. The flowers were beautiful and somehow even looked Japanese, didn't they? I heard from all three of mine too.

Belated Mum's Day to you CB - lovely that yours are so thoughtful. Warm thoughts from a very sunny Ireland - although how long that lasts remains to be seen!

"Soup and toast and a blazing fire" - could be an English winter day! Just add plenty of mulled wine and a good book (the Ghost Stories of M.R. James would suit well)
